About the Artist:
Referring to her body of work as “graffiti glam,” Holly Suzanne Rader fuses vintage pin-up portraiture with expressive, graffiti-inspired gestures in vibrant, collaged paintings. Her colorful works recall Rosie-the-Riveter-style propaganda posters and semi-erotic portraits of the women of Ziegfeld Follies. Rader’s coy subjects—adorned with neon paint swathes, appliquéd crowns, and heroic slogans—engage tropes of femininity. They are at once coquettish and powerful, timeless and contemporary, commonplace and grandiose.
